Description
These 3W LEDs have a color temperature of 6000-6500K which is considered daylight or pure white.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- Qty 10 – LED 3W Daylight White 6000-6500K
KEY FEATURES OF LED 3W DAYLIGHT WHITE 6000-6500K:
- 6000-6500 daylight color temperature simulates typical natural daylight
- ± 60° viewing angle
- 700mA max drive current
- Bridgelux or Epistar LED chips
These LEDs are popular for DIY projects for illuminating plants, freshwater planted aquariums and saltwater reef aquarium or anywhere that a high CRI value is desired so that colors are represented in their natural color.
These LEDs are primarily designed to be used with a constant current LED driver like the Meanwell LDD-700 but can be driven off other circuits that have some form of current limiting to avoid damage to the LEDs or the driving source.
For experimentation, the device can be driven at lower brightness directly off the pins of an MCU with a suitable current limiting series resistor.
Color | Max Power | Wavelength | Max Forward Current | Forward Voltage | Luminous Flux | LED Chip Size |
White | 3W | 6000K – 6500K | 600-700mA | 3.0 – 3.4V | 220-260 | 45mil |
The LEDs can get quite hot when driven at full power. For high power applications, the LEDs should be placed on a suitable heat sink with thermal paste to avoid possible overheating.
Most commonly, these individual LEDs are soldered to an aluminum star type heat sink which is then mounted to a larger piece of aluminum or larger heat sink assembly. Point-to-point wiring can then be used to connect the LEDs.
When soldering the LED to the star board, it is critical to use thermal paste between the body of the LED and the center pad on the star board. This is to ensure efficient heat transfer from the LED to the star board. If using hot air or a hot plate to reflow the solder to mount the LED, it is possible to use solder paste under the LED to solder the LED to the center pad rather than using thermal paste. The solder provides ideal thermal coupling.
The LEDs are typically wired in a serial chain powered by a constant current LED driver which can be PWM controlled to adjust LED brightness. The driver output voltage must be large enough to account for the voltage drop across all the LEDs in the chain.
