Description
The Joystick Module Acrylic Case provides an enclosure / base for the common PS2 style joystick module.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- 3 pieces acrylic
- 4 screws
OUR EVALUATION RESULTS:
Joysticks are handy for many projects, but they do tend to dangle around in the breeze when working with them on the bench. This acrylic case provides a nice base for the joystick and it can itself be screwed down to something if desired.
To assemble, follow the steps below. Note that we are leaving the protective paper on to make it easier to see the features of the individual acrylic pieces, but you will want to remove the paper before assembling the unit.
Steps to Assemble
Peel the protective paper layer off the acrylic pieces and layout the pieces as shown below.
Place the joystick module on the center piece which has the cutout to clear the header pins sticking through the module.
Now place the solid piece on the left under the piece that is supporting the joystick module. The 4 holes in the corners are threaded. The 2 holes towards the middle are not used by the case but could be used to attach the case to a substrate of some type.
Next place the piece on the right over the top of the joystick module. Note that the cutout at the top of this piece is slightly narrower and deeper than at the bottom in order to clear a feature on the joystick. If the piece doesn’t fit over the joystick, try flipping it over.
Install the 4 screws from the top and tighten them snugly. Since you are screwing into threads in the bottom acrylic piece, don’t get too heavy handed while tightening to avoid possibly stripping the threads out.
Once tightened, the screws may extend down past the bottom of the acrylic enclosure a small amount. Small rubber feet can be added to avoid the screws possibly scratching the surface the module sits on and they will also help keep the enclosure from sliding on a smooth surface when the joystick is being used.
