This AC Adapter puts out 7.5VDC @ 1A which makes it the perfect companion for our breadboard power supply modules, powering Arduino and other microcontrollers or anytime you are using linear regulators in the 3.3-6V range in your project. The lower output voltage minimizes the power dissipation in the linear regulators compared to using a more typical 9V or 12V adapter and so the regulators can output more current safely.
The DC power plug is a standard 5.5mm x 2.1mm male plug. The module has a green power LED lit when AC power is applied.
OUR EVALUATION RESULTS:
These are really nice little units. At its maximum rated load of 1A, they are running at a comfortable temperature level.
The slim housing mounts at a right angle to most power strips and so they occupy less space on the strip which is always nice. Internal construction of these units is also very reasonable.
Output regulation over load is good. The output measures 7.6V with no load, 7.4V at 500mA and 7.2A at 1A. This amount of droop is pretty good for these types of supplies and it will work fine for its intended purpose over its full power range.
Ripple and noise ranges from 100mV at light loads to about 300mV under max 1A loading which is also pretty good for this type of device.
