The 12VDC AC Adapter provides a convenient way to supply 12V power to projects that require currents of up to 2A.

The AC adapter plugs into an AC outlet and provides 12VDC output for powering devices that require a 12VDC input at 2A or less. The DC power plug is a standard 5.5mm x 2.1mm male plug.
OUR EVALUATION RESULTS:
These AC adapters work as advertised, but at the maximum rated load of 2A, the unit is running pretty warm and ripple increases. They seem happiest if kept at around 1.5A or less.
Output regulation over load is pretty good. Typical output measured 12.2V with no load, 11.9V at 1A and 11.7V at 2A. This amount of droop is pretty good for these types of supplies and stays within 5% of the target voltage
Ripple and noise is fair and ranges from 150mV at light loads to about 250mV at 1.5A. At the full 2A, the ripple and noise increases to about 350mV. Ripple waveform below is shown at a 1A load where it is measured at 188mV.
For use with our solderless breadboard power supplies or powering Arduino type microcontrollers, our 7.5V 1A AC Adapter is usually a better fit as the lower voltage minimizes power dissipation in the voltage regulators on those modules. Those adapters also have a little better ripple @ noise characteristics. These 12V AC adapters are good if you need the higher voltage or the additional current for your application.
