Description
ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) sockets allow ICs and other leaded devices to be inserted and removed from a circuit easily and without damage.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- Qty 1 – ZIF Socket, 40-Pin, 0.3″ Narrow
KEY FEATURES OF ZIF SOCKET, 40-PIN, 0.3″ NARROW:
- Fits up to 40-pin DIP ICs or other components with 0.3″ to 0.6″ width
- Bottom pins are 0.6″ in width and will fit a standard 0.6″ wide socket or 0.1″ hole pattern
- Breadboard compatible.
ZIF sockets are commonly used for IC programmers or test fixtures where you want to put ICs into a circuit temporarily. They are like a normal socket except that they are spring loaded and tightened with a lever so there is no chance of damage to the IC.
This flexible ZIF socket has a narrow 0.3″ center with wide contacts that will support component widths from 0.3″ to 0.6″ which covers most leaded ICs.
Besides ICs, these sockets can also be used to grab onto male headers of modules, pins of 7-segment LED arrays and similar devices.
Simple permanent test and programming fixtures can be made using a universal prototype PCB with one of these sockets mounted along with the peripheral resistors or other components required to complete the circuit. Temporary fixtures can be constructed on solderless breadboards.
