Description
The Solderless Breadboard Snap-Lock 830 is a professional grade solderless breadboard with an integrated base that allows multiple breadboards to be snapped together. They feature phosphor bronze contacts and are part of our Pro Series of products.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- Solderless Breadboard Snap-Lock 830 – Model: EIC-16020
KEY FEATURES OF SOLDERLESS BREADBOARD SNAP-LOCK 830 (PRO SERIES):
- Tie-points: 830
- Spring Contacts: Fully embossed phosphor bronze
- Color: Off-white
- Power Rails: Full length continuity
- Base: Integrated plastic base with rubber feet and Snap-Lock feature for connecting multiple breadboards together
- Recommended Insertion Range: 21-26 AWG
Solderless breadboards are used for prototyping electronic circuits by inserting components and wires into spring contacts. This allows circuits to be easily and quickly constructed without soldering. It also allows components to be reused multiple times in different circuits.
Our Snap-Lock line of breadboards have an integrated base with built-in rubber feet. The base incorporates features that allow the breadboards to be firmly snapped together on both the long and short sides. This allows arbitrarily large breadboards to be constructed or they can be expanded on-the-fly as a project grows in size.
The Snap-Lock 830 has power rails on both sides of the breadboard. A single unit is similar to the Solderless Breadboard 830 (Pro Series), but with an integrated plastic base replacing the adhesive pad. The main additional feature is that the base allows these modules can be firmly snapped together to form as big of a breadboard as is desired.
When snapping multiple Snap-Lock 830 modules together, this will create double power rails where the breadboards meet. This may be desirable if multiple voltages are being used in the circuit.
If you would prefer instead to have a single power rail between the breadboarding areas, our Snap-Lock 730 with a power rail on one side only is ideally suited to expanding the size of the breadboard. In that case, each row of breadboards would use a Snap-Lock 830 in the first position and then each additional breadboard in that row would use a Snap-lock 730.
The picture below shows the results of combining an 830 to 830 resulting in a double power rail and an 830 to 730 resulting in a single power rail.
With 830 tie-points, this size of breadboard is good for small to medium projects, but can be expanded as needed to support virtually any size project.
Refer to our Guide To Solderless Breadboards for a detailed description of solderless breadboards including their cost and performance trade-offs.
OUR SOLDERLESS BREADBOARD PRODUCT LINES
Hobby Line of products are constructed to hobby standards using stainless steel spring contacts for good price/performance where cost is the major consideration for selection.
Pro Series of products are constructed to professional standards using high quality plastic moldings with phosphor bronze spring contacts for applications where optimum performance is the major consideration for selection.
Notes:
- These are designed to work with components such as IC’s which have standard 0.1″ spacing. Components with other lead spacing such as 2mm may work if the leads can be reformed to fit the 2.54mm pitch of the breadboard
