Description
Our 14 gauge high strand count silicone coated wire is ultra flexible and perfect for wiring DC power systems in tight spaces or for making test leads.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- Silicone Wire, 14 Gauge, Ultra Flexible
KEY FEATURES OF SILICONE WIRE, 14 GAUGE, ULTRA FLEXIBLE:
- 14 AWG wire gauge handles high currents
- 400 strands of 0.08 mm tinned copper wire
- Silicone jacket rated to 600V, 200°C
- 3.5mm diameter
- Extremely flexible
- Available in black and red colors
This ultra flexible silicone wire is useful for making custom test cables that can handle a fair amount of current. It is also popular for wiring DC power systems on robotics and RC models where space is tight. The flexibility guards against breakage due to flexing and allows for routing in restrictive areas.
We use these for making custom test cables such as for connecting between power supplies and dummy loads to minimize voltage drop in the cables.
The wires use a very high 400 strand count of 0.08mm tinned copper wire to protect against corrosion and for easier soldering. This is a higher strand count than is found in most silicone wires of this gauge which increases its flexibility.
The silicone jacket is rated to 600V and a temperature of up to 200°C, so it won’t melt easily if you are soldering close to it. Silicone is softer than the PVC used on standard wire for increased flexibility, but you will want to avoid or protect it against sharp edges to prevent abrading the insulation.
Due to the very high strand count we recommend tinning the wire with solder or even better using crimp-on ferrules if you are using in a screw terminal block to avoid stray strands.
Notes:
- Sold per foot
- Longer lengths may consist of 2 separate wires
