Description
The 1N5822 Schottky diode can handle 40V @ 3A and has a low forward voltage drop and are very fast switching.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- Qty 2 – 1N5822G Schottky diode 40V 3A
KEY FEATURES OF 1N5822 SCHOTTKY DIODE 40V 3A:
- Extremely low forward voltage drop as low as 0.3V and 0.525V max
- Fast switching speed over 1Mhz
- Up to 40V reverse voltage
- Up to 3A continuous current (80A surge)
Schottky diodes are sometimes called Schottky Barrier diodes. Unlike other diodes which use PN junctions, Schottky diodes are created using a metal to silicon junction that gives it special characteristics.
They have an extremely low forward voltage drop of about 0.3 – 0.5V compared to 0.7 to 1V for normal diodes and they have fast switching speeds. The exact forward voltage drop will vary depending on the current through the device.
Schottky diodes are commonly used in application where you want to minimize the amount of voltage drop across the diode and/or need high speed switching with decent power handling of up to 3A. These are frequently used for reverse polarity protection, with motor driver ICs, low voltage battery charging circuits, high frequency inverters and similar applications.
1N5822 are polarized devices with a band denoting the cathode end of the diode.
Notes: Due to the high current handling capability of the device, the leads of the DO-201AD package are up to 0.051″ in diameter and will not fit a standard breadboard or proto board unless smaller gauge leads are soldered on.
