USB-C is the latest version of USB connectors as is used on most cell phones.  It allows the cable to be plugged in either orientation and is generally more robust than Micro-B or other small USB connectors.

Keep in mind that many USB-C cables, such as ones that come with cell phones for charging, are charge-only cables and only have the power conductors.  These cables also have the data conductors which are needed for transferring data.

If you are working with LILYGO or other development boards that use a USB-C type connection and the board will power up, but you cannot connect to it over the USB port, that is the most likely cause if you are using a cable you had laying around.
