This Teensy 4.1 is built specifically to work with the Blurred application for video games. It supports connecting the Teensy to a USB Host cable and to a CP2102 USB to TTL Serial Converter.
The Teensy can be ordered as the Teensy 4.1 only for those that may already have the necessary other parts or can be ordered with the full kit to complete the setup. These options are selectable above.
For more information, you can check out the Blurred application at https://blurred.gg/teensy
Package Includes:
- Teensy 4.1 NE with pins configured and soldered for the Blurred Application
- Pinout diagram
- Optionally provided with
- USB Host 5-pin cable
- CP2102 USB to TTL Serial Converter with jumper wires
- USB-A to Micro-B Cable, 3Ft
- Note: In some cases, depending on inventory levels, a 6ft USB cable will be shipped instead of 3ft.
Build Specifics:
The base Teensy used for this assembly is the Teensy 4.1 NE (without Ethernet) since this setup does not utilize Ethernet and it helps to reduce the price. As shown in the picture below, this version is missing the Ethernet chip next to the unstuffed 6-pin Ethernet header. This is normal. Depending on inventory levels, we may also ship the standard Teensy with Ethernet capability that has this chip installed at the same reduced price. For this application, the two different Teensy are equivalent.
The 5-pin USB Host header is installed on the top side for connecting to the USB Host 5-pin cable. A 2-pin header is also installed on the Serial 1 port on pins 0 & 1 for connecting to the CP2102 USB to TTL Serial Converter Module.
We are providing the hardware components only. Full system connection details are available from Blurred.gg once their software is purchased.
Please keep in mind that the Teensy is a raw electronic component. When in use, the Teensy should be placed on a non-conductive surface like glass, wood or rubber to avoid any possible shorting hazards. We are now also including a 3″ length of heat shrink tubing in the kit. Once cables are installed, this can be placed over the Teensy and cable connections to help provide some electrical insulation and to help keep connectors in place.
DO NOT heat shrink the tubing over the Teensy. It must be left loose to ensure adequate cooling of the Teensy. Also do not place this Teensy assembly in a hot area to avoid possibly overheating the Teensy.
For full details on the Teensy 4.1 please refer to the full Teensy 4.1 Product Page.
Troubleshooting:
If the CP2102 module does not appear to work correctly especially if no lights come on when it is inserted into the computer USB port, a common problem is that the plastic sleeve that is put over the module to electrically insulate it may extend far enough down the USB connector that it prevents the connector from fully seating into the USB port of the computer so it doesn’t make contact. Should this occur, simply use a sharp knife like a box knife or X-Acto knife to trim the plastic back to allow the connector to insert fully.
International Customers:
We directly ship within the USA only. For international customers, we recommend creating a free account on myus.com which is a package forwarding service. We recommend myus.com as we have shipped many packages through them without issue, but there are many other package forwarders that can also be used if you already have an account setup elsewhere.
Once you sign up for an account, they will provide you with a USA address to use on the order since our website won’t accept international addresses. This address includes a Suite number which is usually 2 letters and 4-5 numbers like AB1234. You must include the suite number as it is what identifies your order when it arrives at myus.com. We cannot ship your order without it and your order will be canceled if we can’t contact you by email to get the suite number.
Please use this address for both the shipping and billing address. The website will take international credit cards or PayPal.
You must include your final home destination address in the Order Notes section during checkout.
If you select the $12.95 shipping, it will ship via USPS Priority mail and will usually arrive to myus.com in 2-3 days. If you select 6.95 shipping, it will ship via USPS Ground Advantage which takes 5-7 days. When the package arrives at myus.com and is processed, they post it in your dashboard and will send you an email to let you know that it arrived and to see how you want the package shipped overseas. This can range from postal to DHL Express.
The package will weigh less than 1lb and they have cost estimators on their website for the different shipping services to your country at: myus.com/pricing/
This account can be used to purchase from any USA company that does not normally ship overseas. They will also consolidate multiple orders from different companies into one shipment to help reduce your costs.
Upon arrival in your country there may be taxes or tariffs due which the shipping company must collect from you before delivering the package. These vary depending on the country, but can be $10-$30USD.
Teensy Warranty:
The warranty only covers manufacturing defects. We guarantee that the Teensy 4.1 will operate correctly when first received out of the bag. We encourage you to connect the Teensy 4.1 to a USB cable and download ‘Blink’ or other simple test program to verify the unit is basically functional upon receipt.
Once it is put into use and possibly subjected to shorts or other possible damaging electrical signals there is no guarantee that the Teensy 4.1 won’t fail during use. Failures such as these are not covered by any warranty.
Before they are shipped, the Teensy 4.1 has:
- Base Teensy inspected and tested by PJRC.
- Gold-plated 5-pin and 2-pin male header pins are installed on the topside of Teensy 4,1NE as described above.
- Board is cleaned of flux.
- Blink example program is downloaded to verify basic operation.
- Packaged in resealable ESD bag for safe storage.
