Mini Platform Extended Acrylic Base

Description

This acrylic base is for use with the Mini Platform for Teensy 4.1 and available adapter boards.  The Mini Platform and adapter boards can simply be used with the standoffs that they ship with utilized as feet or the standoffs can be attached to this acrylic base for a more finished look and a little more protection for the bottom side.  It also ensures that the adapters stay firmly attached to the baseboard.

There are two versions of the acrylic base available.  The shorter one shown fits the basic Mini Platform baseboard.  The Extended Acrylic Base shown here is longer and fits both the Mini Platform baseboard as well as adapter modules such as the Mini Platform Solderless Breadboard Adapter and the Mini Platform Audio Tutorial Adapter.

ASSEMBLING THE MINI PLATFORM ACRYLIC BASE

Remove the Protective Paper

The protective paper is simply peeled off.  Once the protective paper is removed, you will see that one side of the acrylic is matte black while the other side is shiny black.  The black matte side faces up.  The end with the 6 evenly spaced holes is positioned to the right.

Mount the Mini Platform Board.

The Mini Platform baseboard comes with M3 x 8mm black nylon standoffs already installed.  The Mini Platform baseboard mounts on the right side of the acrylic panel with the IDC GPIO connector facing to the left.  6 of the M3 screws that come in the kit are inserted from the bottom of the acrylic base and screw into the 6 standoffs.  If the screws/standoffs do not line up on some holes, you can temporarily loosen the screws mounting the standoffs to the Mini Platform baseboard.  Once both top and bottom screws are both started, they can both be tightened.

If you are also using an adapter, like the Solderless Breadboard Adapter, it can be inserted into the Mini Platform IDC connector and then the 4 screws can be added to mount the adapter to the acrylic base.  Due to stack-up tolerances, it is likely that some of the standoffs on the adapter will need to be temporarily loosened until you get all the screws started.

The nylon screw heads serve as the feet, but you can also install rubber adhesive feet if you prefer.
