- Qty 5 – 1N5819 Schottky diode 40V 1A
KEY FEATURES OF 1N5819 SCHOTTKY DIODE 40V 1A:
- Extremely low forward voltage drop as low as 0.3V
- Very fast switching speed up to 2Mhz
- Up to 40V reverse voltage
- Up to 1A continuous current (25A surge)
Schottky diodes are sometimes called Schottky Barrier diodes. Unlike other diodes which use PN junctions, Schottky diodes are created using a metal to silicon junction that gives it special characteristics.
They have an extremely low forward voltage drop of about 0.3V compared to 0.7 to 1V for normal diodes and they have very fast switching speeds. The exact forward voltage drop will vary depending on the current through the device.
Schottky diodes are commonly used in application where you want to minimize the amount of voltage drop across the diode and/or need high speed switching with decent power handling of up to 1A. These are frequently used with motor driver ICs, low voltage battery charging circuits, high frequency inverters and similar applications.
1N5819 are polarized devices with a band denoting the cathode end of the diode.
